Task-oriented evaluation of knowledge graph (KG) quality increasingly asks whether an ontology-based representation can answer the competency questions that users actually care about, in a manner that is reproducible, explainable, and traceable to evidence. This paper adopts that perspective and focuses on gap and overlap analysis for policy-like documents (e.g., insurance contracts), where given a scenario, which documents support it (overlap) and which do not (gap), with defensible justifications. The resulting gap/overlap determinations are typically driven by genuine differences in coverage and restrictions rather than missing data, making the task a direct test of KG task readiness rather than a test of missing facts or query expressiveness. We present an executable and auditable benchmark that aligns natural-language contract text with a formal ontology and evidence-linked ground truth, enabling systematic comparison of methods. The benchmark includes: (i) ten simplified yet diverse life-insurance contracts reviewed by a domain expert, (ii) a domain ontology (TBox) with an instantiated knowledge base (ABox) populated from contract facts, and (iii) 58 structured scenarios paired with SPARQL queries with contract-level outcomes and clause-level excerpts that justify each label. Using this resource, we compare a text-only LLM baseline that infers outcomes directly from contract text against an ontology-driven pipeline that answers the same scenarios over the instantiated KG, demonstrating that explicit modeling improves consistency and diagnosis for gap/overlap analyses. Although demonstrated for gap and overlap analysis, the benchmark is intended as a reusable template for evaluating KG quality and supporting downstream work such as ontology learning, KG population, and evidence-grounded question answering.

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have advanced clinical tasks for common conditions, but their performance on rare diseases remains largely untested. In rare-disease scenarios, clinicians often lack prior clinical knowledge, forcing them to rely strictly on case-level evidence for clinical judgments. Existing benchmarks predominantly evaluate common-condition, single-image settings, leaving multimodal and multi-image evidence integration under rare-disease data scarcity systematically unevaluated. We introduce MMRareBench, to our knowledge the first rare-disease benchmark jointly evaluating multimodal and multi-image clinical capability across four workflow-aligned tracks: diagnosis, treatment planning, cross-image evidence alignment, and examination suggestion. The benchmark comprises 1,756 question-answer pairs with 7,958 associated medical images curated from PMC case reports, with Orphanet-anchored ontology alignment, track-specific leakage control, evidence-grounded annotations, and a two-level evaluation protocol. A systematic evaluation of 23 MLLMs reveals fragmented capability profiles and universally low treatment-planning performance, with medical-domain models trailing general-purpose MLLMs substantially on multi-image tracks despite competitive diagnostic scores. These patterns are consistent with a capacity dilution effect: medical fine-tuning can narrow the diagnostic gap but may erode the compositional multi-image capability that rare-disease evidence integration demands.

Personalized learning systems are almost universally designed around a single objective: help people acquire knowledge and skills more efficiently. We argue this framing misses the more consequential problem. The most damaging failures in human life-financial ruin, health collapse, professional obsolescence-are rarely caused by insufficient knowledge acquisition. They arise from the systematic absence of entire conceptual territories from a person's cognitive map: domains they never thought to explore because, from within their existing worldview, those domains did not appear to exist or to matter. We call such absences Ontological Blind Spots and introduce Failure Ontology (F), a formal framework for detecting, classifying, and remediating them across a human lifetime. The framework introduces three original contributions: (1) a four-type taxonomy of blind spots distinguishing domain blindness, structural blindness, weight blindness, and temporal blindness; (2) five convergent failure patterns characterizing how blind spots interact with external disruption to produce catastrophic outcomes; and (3) the Failure Learning Efficiency Theorem, proving that failure-based learning achieves higher sample efficiency than success-based learning under bounded historical data. We illustrate the framework through historical case analysis of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis and the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis, and through alongitudinal individual case study spanning five life stages.

We present EL-DRUIN, an ontological reasoning system for geopolitical intelligence analysis that combines formal ontology, finite semigroup algebra, and Lie algebra approximation to forecast long-run relationship trajectories. Current LLM-based political analysis systems operate as summarisation engines, producing outputs bounded by textual pattern matching. EL-DRUIN departs from this paradigm by modelling geopolitical relationships as states in a finite set of named Dynamic Patterns, composing patterns via a semigroup operation whose structure constants are defined by an explicit composition table, and embedding each pattern as a vector in an 8-dimensional semantic Lie algebra space. Forward simulation iterates this semigroup operation, yielding reachable pattern sets at each discrete timestep; convergence to idempotent absorbing states (fixed points of the composition) constitutes the predicted long-run attractor. Bayesian posterior weights combine ontology-derived confidence priors with a Lie similarity term measuring the cosine similarity between the vector sum of composing patterns and the target pattern vector, providing interpretable, calibrated probabilities that are not self-reported by a language model. Bifurcation points -- steps at which two candidate attractors have near-equal posterior mass -- are detected and exposed to downstream analysis. We demonstrate the framework on six geopolitical scenarios including US-China technology decoupling and the Taiwan Strait military coercion trajectory. The architecture is publicly available as an open-source system with a Streamlit frontend exposing full computation traces, Bayesian posterior breakdowns, and 8D ontological state vectors.

Structured prediction requires models to generate ontology-constrained labels, grounded evidence, and valid structure under ambiguity, label skew, and heterogeneous group difficulty. We present a two-part framework for controllable inference and robust fine-tuning. First, we introduce a task-agnostic prompting strategy that combines XML-based instruction structure, disambiguation rules, verification-style reasoning, schema constraints, and self-validation to address format drift, label ambiguity, evidence hallucination, and metadata-conditioned confusion in in-context structured generation. Second, we introduce STaR-DRO, a stateful robust optimization method for group heterogeneity. It combines Tsallis mirror descent with momentum-smoothed, centered group-loss signals and bounded excess-only multipliers so that only persistently hard groups above a neutral baseline are upweighted, concentrating learning where it is most needed while avoiding volatile, dense exponentiated-gradient reweighting and unnecessary loss from downweighting easier groups. We evaluate the combined framework on EPPC Miner, a benchmark for extracting hierarchical labels and evidence spans from patient-provider secure messages. Prompt engineering improves zero-shot by +15.44 average F1 across Code, Sub-code, and Span over four Llama models. Building on supervised fine-tuning, STaR-DRO further improves the hardest semantic decisions: on Llama-3.3-70B-Instruct, Code F1 rises from 79.24 to 81.47 and Sub-code F1 from 67.78 to 69.30, while preserving Span performance and reducing group-wise validation cross-entropy by up to 29.6% on the most difficult clinical categories. Because these rare and difficult groups correspond to clinically consequential communication behaviors, these gains are not merely statistical improvements: they directly strengthen communication mining reliability for patient-centered care analysis.

Existing LLM-based agent systems share a common architectural failure: they answer from the unrestricted knowledge space without first simulating how active business scenarios reshape that space for the event at hand -- producing decisions that are fluent but ungrounded and carrying no audit trail. We present LOM-action, which equips enterprise AI with \emph{event-driven ontology simulation}: business events trigger scenario conditions encoded in the enterprise ontology~(EO), which drive deterministic graph mutations in an isolated sandbox, evolving a working copy of the subgraph into the scenario-valid simulation graph $G_{\text{sim}}$; all decisions are derived exclusively from this evolved graph. The core pipeline is \emph{event $\to$ simulation $\to$ decision}, realized through a dual-mode architecture -- \emph{skill mode} and \emph{reasoning mode}. Every decision produces a fully traceable audit log. LOM-action achieves 93.82% accuracy and 98.74% tool-chain F1 against frontier baselines Doubao-1.8 and DeepSeek-V3.2, which reach only 24--36% F1 despite 80% accuracy -- exposing the \emph{illusive accuracy} phenomenon. The four-fold F1 advantage confirms that ontology-governed, event-driven simulation, not model scale, is the architectural prerequisite for trustworthy enterprise decision intelligence.

While the ASAM OpenSCENARIO 2.1 Domain-Specific Language (DSL) enables declarative, intent-driven authoring for Scenario-Based Testing (SBT), its integration into open-source simulators like CARLA remains limited by legacy parsers. We propose a multi-pass modern compiler architecture that translates the OpenSCENARIO 2.1 DSL directly into executable CARLA behaviors. The pipeline features an ANTLR4 frontend for Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) generation, a semantic middle-end, and a runtime backend that synthesizes deterministic py_trees behavior trees. Mapping the standardized domain ontology directly to CARLA's procedural API via a custom method registry eliminates the need for external logic solvers. A demonstrative multi-actor cut-in and evasive maneuver, selected from a wider suite of validated scenarios, confirms the compiler's ability to process concurrent actions, dynamic mathematical expressions, and asynchronous signaling. This framework establishes a functional baseline for reproducible, large-scale SBT, paving the way for future C++ optimizations to mitigate current Python-based computational overhead.

Financial reporting systems increasingly use large language models (LLMs) to extract and summarize corporate disclosures. However, most assume a single-market setting and do not address structural differences across jurisdictions. Variations in accounting taxonomies, tagging infrastructures (e.g., XBRL vs. PDF), and aggregation conventions make cross-jurisdiction reporting a semantic alignment and verification challenge. We present FinReporting, an agentic workflow for localized cross-jurisdiction financial reporting. The system builds a unified canonical ontology over Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, and decomposes reporting into auditable stages including filing acquisition, extraction, canonical mapping, and anomaly logging. Rather than using LLMs as free-form generators, FinReporting deploys them as constrained verifiers under explicit decision rules and evidence grounding. Evaluated on annual filings from the US, Japan, and China, the system improves consistency and reliability under heterogeneous reporting regimes. We release an interactive demo supporting cross-market inspection and structured export of localized financial statements. Our demo is available at this https URL .

Temporal knowledge graph (TKG) extrapolation is an important task that aims to predict future facts through historical interaction information within KG snapshots. A key challenge for most existing TKG extrapolation models is handling entities with sparse historical interaction. The ontological knowledge is beneficial for alleviating this sparsity issue by enabling these entities to inherit behavioral patterns from other entities with the same concept, which is ignored by previous studies. In this paper, we propose a novel encoder-decoder framework OntoTKGE that leverages the ontological knowledge from the ontology-view KG (i.e., a KG modeling hierarchical relations among abstract concepts as well as the connections between concepts and entities) to guide the TKG extrapolation model's learning process through the effective integration of the ontological and temporal knowledge, thereby enhancing entity embeddings. OntoTKGE is flexible enough to adapt to many TKG extrapolation models. Extensive experiments on four data sets demonstrate that OntoTKGE not only significantly improves the performance of many TKG extrapolation models but also surpasses many SOTA baseline methods.

Extracting structured knowledge from unstructured data still faces practical limitations: entity and event extraction pipelines remain brittle, knowledge graph construction requires costly ontology engineering, and cross-domain generalization is rarely production-ready. In contrast, space and time provide universal contextual anchors that naturally align heterogeneous information and benefit downstream tasks such as retrieval and reasoning. We introduce \textbf{STIndex}, an end-to-end system that structures unstructured content into a multidimensional spatiotemporal data warehouse. Users define domain-specific analysis dimensions with configurable hierarchies, while large language models perform context-aware extraction and grounding. \textbf{STIndex} integrates document-level memory, geocoding correction, and quality validation, and offers an interactive analytics dashboard for visualization, clustering, burst detection, and entity network analysis. In evaluation on a public health benchmark, \textbf{STIndex} improves spatiotemporal entity extraction F1 by 4.37\% (GPT-4o-mini) and 3.60\% (Qwen3-8B). Constructing artificial lexicons that are pronounceable, typologically plausible, and semantically structured remains an open challenge in computational linguistics. Existing conlang generators either lack formal phonotactic guarantees or delegate generation to opaque, non-reproducible LLM-based pipelines. We propose a modular framework that samples phoneme inventories from PHOIBLE, generates word forms under interchangeable phonological grammars (deterministic, OT, and MaxEnt), and assigns meanings via a Swadesh--Leipzig--Jakarta ontology with explicit form--meaning alignment. Evaluation on character $n$-gram perplexity, log-likelihood, and KL divergence against PHOIBLE across lexicon sizes of 100-5,000 forms shows that probabilistic grammars consistently outperform deterministic and random baselines on both phonotactic coherence and typological realism.

Recent studies have uncovered an interesting phenomenon: unimodal foundation models tend to learn convergent representations, regardless of differences in architecture, training objectives, or data modalities. However, these representations are essentially internal abstractions of samples that characterize samples independently, leading to limited expressiveness. In this paper, we propose The Indra Representation Hypothesis, inspired by the philosophical metaphor of Indra's Net. We argue that representations from unimodal foundation models are converging to implicitly reflect a shared relational structure underlying reality, akin to the relational ontology of Indra's Net. We formalize this hypothesis using the V-enriched Yoneda embedding from category theory, defining the Indra representation as a relational profile of each sample with respect to others. This formulation is shown to be unique, complete, and structure-preserving under a given cost function. We instantiate the Indra representation using angular distance and evaluate it in cross-model and cross-modal scenarios involving vision, language, and audio. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Indra representations consistently enhance robustness and alignment across architectures and modalities, providing a theoretically grounded and practical framework for training-free alignment of unimodal foundation models.

Conversational agents based on Large Language Models (LLMs) have recently emerged as powerful tools for human-computer interaction. Nevertheless, their black-box nature implies challenges in predictability and a lack of personalization, both of which can be addressed by controlled generation. This work proposes an end-to-end method to obtain modular and explainable control over LLM outputs through ontological definitions of aspects related to the conversation. Key aspects are modeled and used as constraints; we then further fine-tune the LLM to generate content accordingly. To validate our approach, we explore two tasks that tackle two key conversational aspects: the English proficiency level and the polarity profile of the content. Using a hybrid fine-tuning procedure on seven state-of-the-art, open-weight conversational LLMs, we show that our method consistently outperforms pre-trained baselines, even on smaller models. Beyond quantitative gains, the framework remains model-agnostic, lightweight, and interpretable, enabling reusable control strategies that can be extended to new domains and interaction goals. This approach enhances alignment with strategy instructions and demonstrates the effectiveness of ontology-driven control in conversational systems.

As cloud environments become increasingly complex, cybersecurity and forensic investigations must evolve to meet emerging threats. Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown promise in automating log analysis and reasoning tasks, yet they remain vulnerable to prompt injection attacks and lack forensic rigor. To address these dual challenges, we propose a unified, secure-by-design GenAI framework that integrates PromptShield and the Cloud Investigation Automation Framework (CIAF). PromptShield proactively defends LLMs against adversarial prompts using ontology-driven validation that standardizes user inputs and mitigates manipulation. CIAF streamlines cloud forensic investigations through structured, ontology-based reasoning across all six phases of the forensic process. We evaluate our system on real-world datasets from AWS and Microsoft Azure, demonstrating substantial improvements in both LLM security and forensic accuracy. Experimental results show PromptShield boosts classification performance under attack conditions, achieving precision, recall, and F1 scores above 93%, while CIAF enhances ransomware detection accuracy in cloud logs using Likert-transformed performance features. Our integrated framework advances the automation, interpretability, and trustworthiness of cloud forensics and LLM-based systems, offering a scalable foundation for real-time, AI-driven incident response across diverse cloud infrastructures.

AI agents operating over extended time horizons accumulate experiences that serve multiple concurrent goals, and must often maintain conflicting interpretations of the same events. A concession during a client negotiation encodes as a ``trust-building investment'' for one strategic goal and a ``contractual liability'' for another. Current memory architectures assume a single correct encoding, or at best support multiple views over unified storage. We propose Rashomon Memory: an architecture where parallel goal-conditioned agents encode experiences according to their priorities and negotiate at query time through argumentation. Each perspective maintains its own ontology and knowledge graph. At retrieval, perspectives propose interpretations, critique each other's proposals using asymmetric domain knowledge, and Dung's argumentation semantics determines which proposals survive. The resulting attack graph is itself an explanation: it records which interpretation was selected, which alternatives were considered, and on what grounds they were rejected. We present a proof-of-concept showing that retrieval modes (selection, composition, conflict surfacing) emerge from attack graph topology, and that the conflict surfacing mode, where the system reports genuine disagreement rather than forcing resolution, lets decision-makers see the underlying interpretive conflict directly.

Knowledge graph construction typically relies either on predefined ontologies or on schema-free extraction. Ontology-driven pipelines enforce consistent typing but require costly schema design and maintenance, whereas schema-free methods often produce fragmented graphs with weak global organization, especially in long technical documents with dense, context-dependent information. We propose TRACE-KG (Text-dRiven schemA for Context-Enriched Knowledge Graphs), a multimodal framework that jointly constructs a context-enriched knowledge graph and an induced schema without assuming a predefined ontology. TRACE-KG captures conditional relations through structured qualifiers and organizes entities and relations using a data-driven schema that serves as a reusable semantic scaffold while preserving full traceability to the source evidence. Experiments show that TRACE-KG produces structurally coherent, traceable knowledge graphs and offers a practical alternative to both ontology-driven and schema-free construction pipelines.

Organizing a large-scale knowledge graph into a typed property graph requires structural decisions -- which entities become nodes, which properties become edges, and what schema governs these choices. Existing approaches embed these decisions in pipeline code or extract relations ad hoc, producing schemas that are tightly coupled to their construction process and difficult to reuse for downstream ontology-level tasks. We present an ontology-oriented approach in which the schema is designed from the outset for ontology analysis, entity disambiguation, domain customization, and LLM-guided extraction -- not merely as a byproduct of graph building. The core mechanism is intrinsic-relational routing, which classifies every property as either intrinsic or relational and routes it to the corresponding schema module. This routing produces a declarative schema that is portable across storage backends and independently reusable. We instantiate the approach on the January 2026 Wikidata dump. A rule-based cleaning stage identifies a 34.6M-entity core set from the full dump, followed by iterative intrinsic-relational routing that assigns each property to one of 94 modules organized into 8 categories. With tool-augmented LLM support and human review, the schema reaches 93.3% category coverage and 98.0% module assignment among classified entities. Exporting this schema yields a property graph with 34.0M nodes and 61.2M edges across 38 relationship types. We validate the ontology-oriented claim through five applications that consume the schema independently of the construction pipeline: ontology structure analysis, benchmark annotation auditing, entity disambiguation, domain customization, and LLM-guided extraction.

The preservation of intangible cultural heritage is a critical challenge as collective memory fades over time. While Large Language Models (LLMs) offer a promising avenue for generating engaging narratives, their propensity for factual inaccuracies or "hallucinations" makes them unreliable for heritage applications where veracity is a central requirement. To address this, we propose a novel neuro-symbolic architecture grounded in Knowledge Graphs (KGs) that establishes a transparent "plan-retrieve-generate" workflow for story generation. A key novelty of our approach is the repurposing of competency questions (CQs) - traditionally design-time validation artifacts - into run-time executable narrative plans. This approach bridges the gap between high-level user personas and atomic knowledge retrieval, ensuring that generation is evidence-closed and fully auditable. We validate this architecture using a new resource: the Live Aid KG, a multimodal dataset aligning 1985 concert data with the Music Meta Ontology and linking to external multimedia assets. We present a systematic comparative evaluation of three distinct Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) strategies over this graph: a purely symbolic KG-RAG, a text-enriched Hybrid-RAG, and a structure-aware Graph-RAG. Our experiments reveal a quantifiable trade-off between the factual precision of symbolic retrieval, the contextual richness of hybrid methods, and the narrative coherence of graph-based traversal. Our findings offer actionable insights for designing personalised and controllable storytelling systems.

Toxic content detection in online communication remains a significant challenge, with current solutions often inadvertently blocking valuable information, including medical terms and text related to minority groups. This paper presents a more nu-anced approach to identifying toxicity in Bulgarian text while preserving access to essential information. The research explores two distinct methodologies for detecting toxic content. The developed methodologies have po-tential applications across diverse online platforms and content moderation systems. First, we propose an ontology that models the potentially toxic words in Bulgarian language. Then, we compose a dataset that comprises 4,384 manually anno-tated sentences from Bulgarian online forums across four categories: toxic language, medical terminology, non-toxic lan-guage, and terms related to minority communities. We then train a BERT-based model for toxic language classification, which reaches a 0.89 F1 macro score. The trained model is directly applicable in a real environment and can be integrated as a com-ponent of toxic content detection systems.

Moral cognition has traditionally been modeled as adherence to fixed ethical theories--deontology, consequentialism, virtue ethics--implemented as static rules or value functions. We propose Bounded Morality, a formal framework for analyzing the computational demands of moral problems faced by finite agents. Extending Herbert Simon's notion of bounded rationality, we formalize moral situations along two orthogonal dimensions: moral breadth, the scope of entities treated as morally relevant, and moral depth, the inferential integration required to evaluate their interactions. Limited resources impose an unavoidable tradeoff between these dimensions, defining a feasible space of moral computation. Within this space, ethical theories correspond to locally efficient strategies adapted to different demand regimes rather than competing accounts of moral truth. The framework yields a formal notion of moral regret and moral progress under constraint, and implies that moral alignment in artificial systems depends on the scaling and allocation of moral reasoning capacity rather than on direct imitation of human judgments.
